ESL Pro League Season 19 is heating up. We continue to talk about what's happening in the group stage, specifically Group C.

Today we'll be talking about the top grid and the middle grid matches. In this breakdown we're talking about the top-seeded Liquid vs Monte match for the play-offs.

Liquid's uniform

Let's start the match analysis with Team Liquid's form. In this match, the American club will play as favourites to win with odds to win at around 1.4.

Liquid had a pretty productive 2023 season. They played a lot of tournaments, but high results were rare.

They started the year with a top-4 finish at IEM Katowice 2023, where they reached the top 4. Next was the equally good BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown with a similar top-4, and then BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: American RMR followed by a top-3 and a trip to the main tournament of the year.

After making it to the legends stage at the only Major tournament of the season, Liquid played at a lot of big events. These included IEM Dallas 2023 with a top-12 ranking, BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 with a top-9 ranking, and IEM Master Cologne with a top-12 ranking.

At the end of the season they played at Gamers8 2023, finishing in the top 16 and ESL Pro League Season 18, finishing in the top 20. Closed the year with a second place finish at BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023.

A string of failures at major championships has caused major roster changes. Such that Liquid in 2024 can be called the "Dream Team", but the status still has to be earned.

2024 began with qualifiers for the American RMR. They came out, which is not surprising. They also tried to qualify for IEM Chengdu 2024, but it was not successful: in the final of the qualifiers Ledge and M80.

Liquid took TOP-8 at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024, and then passed at IEM Dallas 2024, did not pass at PGL Copenhagen Major 2024, taking TOP-8 at home, and then TOP-16 at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024 and TOP-6 at IEM Masters and TOP-6 Chengdu 2024. ESL Pro League Season 19 started with a victory over the principal and clearly not passable opponent FURIA. They beat the Brazilians with a score of 2-1.

Form Monte

We continue the match review with the analysis of Monte's form. In this match, the Ukrainian club plays the second number with odds to win at around 2.8.

Before the Long Spring IEM Cologne 2023 held a series of unsuccessful tournaments. They finished top-16 at the next CCT, this time North Europe Series #5, and top-8 at the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023.

After a great run at BLAST.tv Major 2023, Monte left the headliner of that roster - BOROS - and was replaced by Astralis Talent member - Danish br0.

Monte rolled out the roster at Play-In IEM Cologne 2023, where they defeated Brazilian teams twice: first Imperial 16-9 and then FURIA 2-1 in the series. Monte beat GamerLegion in the group stage, but were unable to face more serious opponents like Heroic. IEM Cologne 2023 ended with a match against Cloud9. Monte tried, but Ledgeilie more titled club with a score of 0-2.

Before ESL Pro League Season 18 played a number of local championships. Among them were CCT Series tournaments, where Monte finished in the top 4, and top 2 at CCT North Europe Series #7, and there was also Pinnacle Cup V, where the Ukrainian club again finished in the top 4.

In the debut match at ESL Pro League Season 18 they met with the Germans from BIG. As expected, the match was equal, especially on the first two maps, but the decisive one was very lopsided: 16-5 in favour of BIG and Monte fell to the lower grid.

In the first round of the lower grid Monte played with the nominally weakest participants of Basket B - Australians from Rooster. It looked like they were going to close with a 2-0 score, but it turned out that there was no need to be happy before the time, and Monte Ledge were on the first card, but then cameback, thus turning the series in their favour.

In the previous match Monte played against MIBR. As in all other matches on ESL Pro League, the game was tense and hard, but in the end the Brazilians triumphed.

Next, Monte managed to get through the last chance net. First they outplayed Heroic with a score of 1-2, and then took revenge on MIBR.

After a real success in the group, Monte made it to the first round of play-offs. There they showed a very serious level of play, defeating Fnatic, Complexity and then Vitality. They were beaten by NaVi, winning the semi-finals 2-0.

Before playing at Roobet Cup 2023, Monte played at IEM Sydney 2023, where they showed a pretty good, but not perfect, game. Monte finished the Sydney tournament at the top-8 stage.

Monte played their debut match at Roobet Cup 2023 against OG. They won 2-0, running over their opponents on class.

Monte qualified for the Roobet Cup 2023 play-offs after a solid win over NiP. The match, by the way, was very intense, although it ended 2-0, the two maps were a struggle: 13-11 Overpass, 16-14 Mirage.

In the quarter-finals Monte faced Movistar Riders. The Ukrainian club defeated their Spanish counterparts 2-0. Then there was another victory over Aurora, but in a more difficult match (2-1 in favour of Monte). But the Roobet Cup 2023 grand final was not enough. Monte met Vp, gave a fight, but lost with a score of 1-2.

In parallel with the game at Roobet Cup 2023 Monte played at Thunderpick World Championship 2023, where at the time of writing this betting thread they were waiting for their semi-final opponent.

In the first High Group match at ESL Challenger Season 46, the team played against a tough French ѕtask Looking4Org. So tough that those won with a score of 2-1.

In the last match of the group stage Monte faced SINNERS Esports. Being the clear favourite to win, the Ukrainian club lost to the Czechs somehow toothlessly, thus sending themselves to the first round of the lower net. As a result, Monte withdrew from the tournament due to a busy schedule.

Next, the club had a very good Challenger in Atlanta, where they managed to reach the top 4, failed IEM Katowice 2024 with the final top 12 and won the RES Eastern European Masters: Spring 2024 with the subsequent entry to the Spring Showdown from BLAST.

At PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR B started with a loss to ECSTATIC, then beat NEXUS and then Ledge and Apeks. It all ended with a loss to Astralis.

Monte then finished in the Top 12 at RES European Series #1 and Top 8 at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024. After that, Monte was supposed to play at IEM China 2024, but didn't make it there due to travel problems. They managed to go to Global Esports Tour Rio de Janeiro 2024, where the Ukrainian club failed to show the game: TOP-8.

ESL Pro League Season 19 started with a 2-0 win over forZe.

Mapule Monte

The best map Monte is Ancient. There Monte has 7 wins in 9 matches. However, Mirage can also be called a signature choice for the Ukrainian club: it has been played 13 times and won 10 of them.

Things are not bad on Anubis, where Monte has 8 wins and 4 losses.

The worst is Vertigo. There Monte have a statistic of 2-4.
