Somnus `M afsluttede sin spillerkarriere i Dota 2
Ihor MatusLu 'Somnus`M' Yao posted on Weibo that he has left Royal Never Give Up and ended his playing career.
Most likely, the reason for this act was the unsatisfactory result of his team at The International 2022. Royal Never Give Up left the event after losing the Bo1 match with Entity and took 13-16th place in the standings. As a result, the team will receive a reward of 1.5% of the total fund, which is now $254,978.
Who will replace the Chinese mid player in RNG is currently unknown.
Lu Yao's journey as part of Royal Never Give Up began on November 11 last year. During this time, the cybersportsman took part in various tournaments. He managed to take 2nd place at Huya Winter Invitational 2021 ($25,867) and DPC Season 2021/2022 China Tour 1 Regional Final ($25,000). In the first division of the third round of the Dota Pro Circuit league, he became the winner and took the main prize of $30,000, and at the Riyadh Masters 2022 the team took 5-6th place and received $200,000, which is not much less than the reward at the main Dota 2 tournament of the year.
Somnus`M, also known as Maybe, is one of the most recognizable Dota 2 players in the Chinese division. The esportsman started his career in 2013 as part of Vici Gaming. He was in the top 4 of The International four times, three times in the top 3 and once in the final of this event. In 2015, he ranked third, in 2017 - fourth, in 2018 - second, and in 2019 - third. 13-16 line of the standings, which, to put it mildly, did not meet the expectations of his fans. Over 9 years of his career, the Chinese player has earned more than $3,200,000 in prize money.
The International 2022, where Somnus`M completed his participation, takes place from October 15 to 30 in Singapore. The total prize pool now exceeds $17,000,000 and continues to grow through Battle Pass 2022 fundraising. The best teams in the world are competing for a main reward of 45% of the prize pool. Now the prize is $7,650,160.
