Welcome to EGamersWorld.
If you're tired of competitive Dota 2 on a fairly large scale, you'll rest up later. DreamLeague Season 24 is heating up with the group stage of the tournament.
The $1,000,000 race continues with 8 teams battling it out in a Round-Robin format to advance to the play-offs. Among those teams are Tundra and Xtreme Gaming.
We are trying to figure out who will be stronger in the head-to-head match and, perhaps most interestingly for The International, whether Xtreme will be able to show anything in the second part of the group stage.
Let's go.
Tundra Esports uniforms
Let's open the Tundra Esports vs Xtreme Gaming match with an analysis of Tundra's form. In this match they will play as favourites with odds to win around 1.5.
In the first cycle of DPC 2023, Tundra only made it into the top 4 via tiebreaker, finishing in the top 3 at the end of the season. This gave them an opportunity to play at The Lima Major 2023, which they failed, finishing in the Top 12.
Things got better in the second DPC cycle. Tundra had re-matches again and again they did well, except now it was a Top-2 division match. Things also got better on the international stage at ESL One Berlin Major 2023, where the reigning world champions from The International finished in the top 6.
In the third cycle, DPC Tundra returned to the top of the competitive dota. The reigning World Champions of The International finished in the top 1 in their home league.
Tundra attended DreamLeague Season 20, but they didn't have much zeal to win there. The team failed to make it past the first group stage, finishing in the top 9-10.
At Bali Major 2023, Tundra had a forced stand-in. Saksa left the squad due to illness, but it didn't stop Tundra from reaching the top 3 of the tournament.
In Riyadh, Tundra again resorted to Aui for the same reason. With him they were able to get through the group stage and survive the round robin tiebreaks. All in all, there's an OG vibe of 2022 in Tundra. However, they failed to reach the top-12.
After the not so successful Riyadh, Tundra also failed at The International 2023, finishing in the top 16. After that, they finished in the top 7 at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.
- Tundra Esports roster: Nightfall, Lorenof, 33, Saksa, Whitemon.
In the 2024 season, Tundra played all sorts of qualifiers, for which they spent the first half of the year. The European-born club went on to finish top 10 at DL Season 22 and top 8 at Elite League.
Tundra's partial rise came at ESL One Birmingham 2024, where the team managed to finish in the top 3. The peak of the 2024 season was TI 24, where Tundra reached the Top 3 and were close to reaching the Grand Final, but failed to do so. Later, with a revamped roster, they reached the top 3 at PGL Wallachia Season 2.
At DreamLeague S24, Tundra Esports made it through the first group stage, going 3-4-0 without losing a single game. In the second stage of the group stage Tundra are experiencing great difficulties: as of the 5th day of games the team has 1 win and 3 losses.
The most popular Tundra Esports characters
Among the most popular characters in Tundra's picks is Techies. The character has been picked 9 times, and his winrate is at 66%.
Next is Bloodseeker, who has been picked 8 times. His win rate is 50%. Batrider (7 matches, 71% win rate), Doom (7 matches, 57% win rate), Timbersaw (6 matches, 66% win rate) were also picked.
Xtreme Gaming uniforms
We continue our analysis of the Xtreme vs Tundra match with an analysis of the Xtreme gaming uniforms. In this match, the only Chinese club will play as an outsider with odds to win at around 2.6.
At DPC 2023: China Upper Division Xtreme Gaming were ranked in the top 5. For a team with such a roster, that result was not just unacceptable, but rather terrible.
The deplorable state of Xtreme Gaming became even more evident after The Lima Major 2023, where Paparazzi and company did not qualify. At the tournament in Peru, only Aster and PSG.LGD showed some promise, while Knights and Ehome, who Xtreme Ledge played in their home league, were suspected of using cheats and ceased to exist after Lima.
However, Xtreme managed to pull itself together. The team called up the experienced Kaka for the fourth position and started to play. Xtreme won their home league with this squad. In this lineup they travelled to Berlin, where they made it to the group stage of The Berlin Major 2023. However, they finished in the top 12, which is not very good.
The third round was a nightmare for Xtreme. They finished in the top 5, which is not a critical indicator, but for teams of Paparazzi and company's level, not making it to the Major with not the strongest competition is a failure.
- Xtreme Gaming lineup: Ame, Xm, Xxs, Pyw, 天命.
Before Long Sogpeg Riyadh Masters 2023, Xtreme Gaming invited XinQ to join the team. The PSG.LGD legend was supposed to strengthen the roster, but the output Xtreme got was about the same as the previous championships - Top 16.
They made their debut at The International 2023 - China Qualifier with a match against Aster.Aries. Despite 2-0 on the scoreboard, Xtreme Gaming still had to deal with Aster's youth. They also looked good throughout the qualifiers, but Xtreme was not enough for the grand finals: Azure Ray celebrated their victory and passage to the TI.
The new competitive year started with a performance at BB Dacha Dubai 2024, where they took TOP-8.
They played at DreamLeague Season 22, where they reached the TOP-3. After that, Xtreme Gaming won the Elite League.
The series of successful championships was interrupted at ESL One Birmingham 2024. There Xtreme Gaming made it to the play-offs, but failed to jump above the top 8.
Xtreme Gaming shined at PGL Wallachia Season 1. The Chinese didn't lose a single map until the grand finals, where they let their guard down: Team Spirit beat Xtreme Gaming 3-2, thus "stealing" the well-deserved title from Ame and company.
Xtreme played at DreamLeague Season 23, where they finished in the top 4, and at Riyadh Masters 2024, where they finished in the top 8. A month later came the home Clavision: Snow Ruyi, where Xtreme Gaming became champions. However, at one of the most important tournaments of the year - The International 2024 - they took TOP-6, which can be considered a good result for modern China.
Xtreme went through the first group stage with a 1-6-0 record, not losing a single game, but also winning only the series. In the second group stage Xtreme are in a terrible position: as of the 5th day of games the Chinese club has a score of 0-4 and the last place in the table.
The most popular Xtreme Gaming heroes
The most popular hero of Xtreme Gaming is Storm Spirit. Paparazzi played him 5 times, but won only 2 matches.
We also took Alchemist (4 matches, 75% wins), Phoenix (4 matches, 50% wins), Keeper of the Light (4 matches, 25% wins), Rubick (4 matches, 25% wins).
There was also Pangolier, Underlord, Pugna, Dragon Knight. All heroes appeared 3 times and won 2 matches each.
Tundra vs Xtreme head-to-head history
In the season 2024 the teams played each other 5 times and Tundra won 3 times, while Xtreme won 1 time and 1 more match ended in a draw.
Predicted result of Tundra vs Xtreme at DreamLeague Season 24
In this match I expect Tundra to win. The Chinese from Xtreme, as far as I'm concerned, will not resurface and it seems that their history in this tournament has come to an end before it started.
Bottom line: Tundra wins.
