The League of Legends World Championship 2024 has reached the end of the first Swiss Stage. On the 7th of October we learned the names of the first teams that made it to the play-offs (LNG and Gen.G), as well as the teams that left the championship (MAD Lions KOI and paiN).
After a short break of 3 days, the games on the Swiss Stage will resume. And it starts with a 2-1 basket match between Top Esports - DPlus KIA.
We are trying to find out who from the pair Top Esports - DPlus KIA will be stronger and will pass to the next stage, which is the LoL World Championship 2024 play-offs.

Top Esports uniforms
Let's open the analysis of the Top Esports vs DPlus KIA match with an analysis of Top Esports' form. In this match they will play as favourites with odds to win at around 1.5.
In 2022, Top Esports finished top-2 in the domestic league twice and then made two appearances at the 2022 Worlds where they finished top-10. In the new season, the situation is slightly worse: they finished top-7 in the LPL Spring 2023, managing to qualify for the play-offs but failing to win a single game there.

The group stage for TOP Esports was pleasant, but far from perfect. TES shared the top 4 of the regular season with LNG, winning 12-4 in the series.
In their first play-offs match, TES faced serious resistance from EDG. TES defeated their counterparts by a score of 3-2.
TES fell to the bottom seed after a clash with Bilibili Gaming. That match ended in a 3-1 victory for the latter. Further bad luck continued in the lower grid of LPL Summer 2023. In the match for life at the tournament TES met LNG Esports, tried to impose a fight, but were powerless, lost with a score of 1-3 and left the tournament on the 4th line.
TES later played at the LPL Regional Finals 2023, where they tried to make it to the Worlds. Again they came up just short, as TES Ledge beat WBG 2-3, thus losing their chances of making it to Worlds 2023.
TES also had NEST 2023, where TES did not make it out of the group, finishing 2-1. The group stage of Demacia Cup 2023 was quite easy for TOP Esports: they didn't lose a single match in Group D and easily made it to the main stage. However, in the play-offs, TES did not have the same ease: TOP Esports lost their first play-offs match to Ledgeiv JDG 2-3, which is not too bad considering the overall condition of the teams during the last season.
TOP Esports had a very good LPL Spring 2024 regular season: the team went 13-3, thus advancing straight to the Double-Elimination stage. In their first round of play-offs, TES played against JD Gaming and easily stomped them 3-0. Next were BLG in the match for the play-offs and there unfolded a real drama with a 3-2 victory in favour of Bilibili Gaming. In the LPL Spring 2024 Grand Finals, TES played against JD Gaming and were outplayed for the second time.

In the first match of the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 Top Esports easily defeated LOUD with a score of 2-0. In the Bracket Stage match, TES played against Fnatic, where they won 2-1. They made their Bracket Stage debut with a solid 3-0 win over Liquid. Next was a defeat by Gen.G, followed by an elimination by G2 Esports and, as a result, Top 6.
TOP Esports also played at Esports World Cup 2024, where they reached the grand finals, but lost to T1.
At Worlds 2024, TES went from third place LPL Summer 2024 where Ledgeili WBG. The Long Sogpeg World Championship itself was won by the reigning world champions T1. Next was a loss by Gen.G, and then a solid win over Fnatic.

KSante (7 matches, 85% wins) and Renekton (5 matches, 80% wins) remain the most popular top line picks. Sion (3 matches, 66% wins) and Darius (2 matches, 100% wins) are next.
In the forest, Sejuani (9 matches, 77% wins), Vi (4 matches, 75% wins), Maokai (4 games, 100% wins) are ubiquitous.
Jayce (6 games, 100% wins) appears in the mid (6 games, 100% wins). Next are Azir (4 games, 75% wins), Akali (3 games, 66% wins), Sylas (3 games, 33% wins).

DPlus KIA uniforms
We continue the analysis of the match DPlus KIA - Top Esports with the analysis of the DPlus KIA form. Here the Korean club plays as the number two with odds to win at around 2.4.
In the season before last, Dplus were still DAMWON, but it doesn't change the essence of the matter. Back then, Korea's top team finished top 3 at LCK Spring 2022 and top 4 at LCK Summer 2022.
Thanks to a win at LCK Regional Finals 2022, the team went to Worls 2022. The World Championships ended with a play-offs loss in a colourful match against Gen.G with a score of 2-3.
After rebranding, Dplus put together a new roster. There was an attempt to make some sort of "super" team, but that story doesn't work too well in LCK.
- Dplus roster: Kingen, Lucid, ShowMaker, Aiming, Kellin.
Reigning world champion Deft didn't help Dplus much at the first tournament after the rebranding. At LCK Spring 2023, Dplus finished in the top 5, which is not good.
At LCK Summer 2023, Dplus made it to the play-offs in 4th place, 11-7. That's better than T1.
However, LCK Summer 2023 Dplus KIA did not stay in the play-offs for long. In the first round of LCK Summer 2023 Playoffs Dplus Ledge and T1 with the score 1-3, leaving the main stage of the prestigious championship early.
The team made it to Worlds 2023 thanks to a second place finish at the South Korean regional finals. To do so, they first outplayed DRX (3-0) and then HLE (3-1).
Dplus opened up Worlds 2023 with a match against G2 Esports. The titular Koreans were weaker than the best team in Europe and went into the set 0-1.
There, Dplus played their fellow countrymen from KT Rolster. And again Worlds 2022 champion Deft and their distinguished colleagues lost: now Dplus had 0-2.
After falling into the relegation zone, Dplus finally got their act together and showed their game. They knocked BDS out of the tournament and now continue the arduous march to the play-offs. They later outplayed GAM Esports and came out on top 2-2, but in the final match Ledge or KT Rolster, thus forfeiting their chance at the play-offs.
After a slightly dismal Worlds 2024, DPlus KIA took the top 5, closing out the LCK Spring 2024 regular season with a score of 9-9.
In the first play-offs match, DPlus pulled off a mini-sensation. They defeated their more title contender KT Rolster in a very difficult bo5. Next was a match against Gen.G, which Dplus almost won, but still fell short on the fifth map and as a result lost 2-3. Dplus KIA finished in the top 4, which is pretty good.
In play-offs LCK Summer 2024 DPlus KIA went through quite confidently, having played the main season with the score 13-5. In their debut match at the LCK Summer 2024 Playoffs, they defeated FearX 3-1. However, defeating Gen.G in the next match was an all-star task, and it proved impossible for DPlus KIA. Next up was a loss to T1 and a final top 4 finish.
After a not so successful LCK Summer 2024, DPlus KIA played at LCK Regional Finals 2024, where they made it to Worlds 2024 on their first attempt, beating T1.
They started off Worlds 2024 with a solid win over Fnatic. Next, an equally confident win against FlyQuest and a 2-0 basket. For the championship play-offs, the team played against LNG Esports, where they lost 0-2 without much of a chance.

On the top line the team picks KSante (4 matches, 50% wins), Renekton (3 games, 33% wins), Gnar (3 matches, 66% wins).

At Worlds 2024, DPlus KIA looked good until they fell to a stronger team than the Western League residents. Against LNG Esports they looked like a whipping boy, but TES is no worse than LNG and therefore they will win.
