I've seriously started to talk about what's going on at LCK Spring 2024 and so far we're on track. Let's talk about the first game day of the second week, and more precisely about its final confrontation between - the duel between KT Rolster and Freecs.

Despite the power and status of the region, there are still matches where one team is a few goals above the other. This match is just one of those cases.

Let's try to see if Freecs have even a minimal chance to take one in this series, or if KT Rolster will run over one of the worst teams in the region without a chance.

KT Rolster uniforms

Let's open the match analysis with an analysis of KT Rolster's playing condition. They will play in this match as clear and unqualified favourites in this match.

In 2022, KT Rolster finished top 7 at LCK Spring 2022 and top 5 at LCK Summer 2022. The main "achievement" was getting to the TOP-4 Regional Finals, but it was of no use: they still didn't make it to the Worlds 2022.

The new season was better. In the first LCK Spring 2023 KT Rolster climbed all the way to the top 3. They were only beaten by Gen.G, who knocked out Bdd and company with a score of 1-3.

At LCK Summer 2023 KT Rolster clearly want to at least repeat the result of the spring. In the group stage, KT rolled over all of their opponents, closing it out with a score of 17-1.

In the first round of play-offs KT Rolster chose T1 as their opponent. Confident after a successful group stage, KT Rolster stumbled against T1 and lost the match with a score of 2-3.

In the first round of the lower grid KT Rolster met HLE, who fell there after an uninspiring loss to Gen.G. The match with KT ended with an identical scenario: 0-3 and here KT Rolster are.

Once in the bottom of the grid, Rolster first defeated Hanwha Life Esports (3-0) and then played T1 again. This time the win was even closer as KT Rolster led 2-0, but T1 was there to reverse sweep and turn the series 3-2 in their favour.

KT Rolster made it to the 2023 Worlds via the South Korean regional finals. KT Rolster played one series and that was against Hanwha Life Esports. Winning the match was no problem and Rolster joined T1 and Gen.G in the main event and home tournament of the year.

Rolster opened the World Championship itself with a match against BLG, where they lost. Next came two wins, first beating fellow regionals Dplus and then beating Weibo Gaming.

At 2-1, KT Rolster faced LNG Esports and lost 1-2. In the play-offs match, Rolster played their compatriots from DPlus and ran over them 2-0 without much trouble.

However, KT Rolster failed to advance beyond the first round of the play-offs. They ran into JD Gaming and lost with a score of 1-3, thus ending their performance at Worlds in the top 8.

KT Rolster will make their debut at LCK Spring 2024 in a match against FearX. There, the titular Koreans (kT Rolster) clearly have a better chance of winning. After FearX, KT Rolster will play against a much more formidable opponent - DPlus - and there is a chance to lose there, but I still believe in the renewed roster of the Korean titleholders.

Fiora (5 matches, 60% wins) was the most often sent to the top line. There was also Jax (3 matches, 100% wins), Camile (2 matches, 100% wins), Irelia (2 matches, 100% wins).

In the forest Maokai (7 matches, 85% wins), Sejuani (4 games, 75% wins), Viego (2 matches, 100% wins).

The centre line was occupied by Azir (5 matches, 80% wins), Sylas (3 games, 66% wins), Kassadin (2 matches, 100% wins), Ryze (2 games, 50% wins).

Shooters set is standard: Varus (4 games, 50% wins), Lucian (4 games, 100% wins).

Sapports are diverse: Nami (3 games, 100% wins), Ashe (3 games, 0 wins), Varus (2 games, 100% wins), Miss Fortune (2 games, 100% wins).

Form Freecs

Let's move on to a breakdown of the Freecs' playing form. Here they play as a number two and the Freecs have virtually no chance to win.

Freecs are one of the weakest teams in South Korea, although they are one of the oldest. They have been playing on LCK since 2016, but they have not managed to achieve any performance.

The most successful year can be called 2018, when Freecs were twice in the top 3 at LCK (2nd place LCK Spring 2023, 3rd place at LCK Summer 2018) and made it to Worlds 2018. And there managed to reach the play-offs, but Ledgeili Cloud9, finishing in the top 8.

In the following years, they managed to reach the top 4 of LCK series tournaments four times. They finished Top-4 at the 2019 LCK Regional Finals, LCK Summer 2020, Top-3 at the 2020 LCK Regional Finals, and Top-4 at the 2022 LCK Spring.

In 2023, the Freecs failed in both LCK splits. First they finished in the top 7 at LCK Spring, failing to make it out of the group, and then in the last, 10th, place at LCK Summer 2023.

Freecs in the new season decided to strengthen Cuzz. The other four played for the club last season and the season before that.

Freecs will make their debut at LCK Spring 2024 with a match against T1. Obviously, they simply have no chance of winning there. Next up is HLE. Freecs have an interesting calendar, I can't say anything.

The most popular Freecs champions

The most frequent guest is KSante (10 games, 8 wins). Gnar (6 matches, 50% wins), Sion (2 matches, 100% wins) and Renekton (2 matches, 50% wins) appear less frequently.

The ubiquitous Maokai is ignored in the forest (he appeared only once and lost). But Vi (6 games, 100% wins), Elise (6 games, 60% wins), Sejuani (4 games, 75% wins) get quite a lot of attention.

The centre line is occupied by Syndra (7 games, 85% wins), Ryze (4 games, 0% wins), Talliyah (3 games, 66% wins).

From shooters like Lucian (5 matches, 80% wins), Varus (4 games, 75% wins), Zeri, Sivir and Caitlyn appeared 3 times each and only Sivir didn't win a single game.

Sapports: Nami (7 matches, 85% wins), Ashe (4 matches, 50% wins), Yummi (3 matches, 33% wins).

In the past the teams have played each other 4 times during the season. Of course KT Rolster are in the lead, but there is one "but": Freecs managed to win the series against KT Rolster at LCK Spring 2023, so there is a ghostly chance here too.

I expect a solid performance from KT Rolster in this match. All Freecs have to hope for is a ghostly chance due to a win in the first match of last year's spring split. Otherwise, KT Rolster is better and stronger than the Freecs in every way. They should take it 2-0.
