Vestens fiasko og de første afgange - hvad skete der på den anden dag af slutspillet PGL Arlington Major 2022
Lord MatusThis whole Dota 2 season is filled with interesting misunderstandings and unpredictable events. The PGL Arlington Major 2022, which runs from August 4 to 14, was no exception.
Now the championship has moved to the playoff stage and the tournament has already managed to leave three teams. This is what we will talk about today and tell you who was able to earn an invitation to The International 2022 by their absence from the last Major competition.
So close…

These are the words from the meme of the same name that come to mind when it comes to Team Liquid this season. The team got off to a good start in the Dota Pro Circuit Season 2021/2022 Western Europe league, having won in the top division of the first round. In the regional final, the team earned second place, and in the second round, the roster became a bronze medalist. Having taken the second position in the third stage, Team Liquid earned a total of 890 rating points and got as close as possible to getting the coveted invite to The International 2022.
To achieve the desired goal, one thing was needed - to reach the top 8 of the PGL Arlington Major 2022. The team performed mediocrely in the group stage and fell into the lower bracket. There, the team was relatively lucky and had to fight with BOOM Esports, a South American team, and not, for example, with Royal Never Give Up. Nevertheless, the meeting was a failure and the team, having taken one card, was defeated in this championship and took 9-12th place in the standings.
And here's the problem - there are no rating points for teams with such an achievement. This means that the roster will now try to break into the biggest esports tournament through qualifiers. The players are offended, because it was very close...
Royal Never Give Up, by the way, have a similar situation, only they don't have 890 DPC points, but 738.42. To do this, the team only needed the victory in the third round of the top division of Dota Pro Circuit Season 2021/2022, as well as the third and fourth places in the first and second rounds of the same division. Be that as it may, Somnus and his teammates will miss The International 2022 if he does not try hard at the qualifiers - he will never see a direct invite.
Good, Bad, Evil: Outsiders, Evil Geniuses and Fnatic

Given: Evil Geniuses, Outsiders and Fnatic love getting direct invites to The International. These teams have 1052.5, 1020.05 and 1020 Dota Pro Circuit rating points, and only two places.
Question: who will still receive invitations, and who will try to qualify for The International 2022 through qualifications?
The correct answer to this problem will be given by beastcoast, who will fight against Fnatic. If they manage to contain the power of their opponents, then both Outsiders and Evil Geniuses will be grateful to them.
Today we will find out if the Peruvians will save Evil Geniuses and Outsiders from the fury of Fnatic.
It is worth noting that Fnatic surprised the audience of this championship with their performance. The team received permission from the organizers to participate in the championship, despite the inability to visit the tournament for three players at once, which immediately caused skepticism about the team's upcoming performance in this tournament.
Mark 'Raven' Polo, Armel 'Armel' Tabios and Jaunel 'Jaunuel' Artzilla have had insurmountable problems getting their visas to Arlington, where the eponymous PGL Arlington Major 2022 is taking place. Timado, Bryle and DuBu have taken their places on the roster. Many viewers thought that due to three substitutions, the team would hardly be able to show an interesting game, however, a real drama with the participation of Fnatic is now unfolding on the professional Dota 2 scene.
Today's match between Fnatic and beastcoast will determine the fate of Outsiders and Evil Geniuses. This is a very interesting story twist considering there are only two starting players on the active roster for this championship. Recall that Fnatic ended up in the top 4 participants in Group A and thus made it to the upper bracket, where they lost in the fight against Team Aster.
If Fnatic beats beastcoast, they will advance to the next round, where they will face the Outsiders. The latter will have to fight for one more victory to secure an invite to TI 2022. Otherwise, Fnatic and Evil Geniuses will go to the World Championship. If Fnatic beat beastcoast, but were defeated in the next matchup, then Evil Geniuses would be saved and Outsiders would have to go to qualifiers.

Simply put, schematically, there are three scenarios:
- Fnatic defeats beastcoast and Outsiders - Fnatic and EG will receive invites
- Fnatic defeats beastcoast, but not Outsiders - Fnatic and Outsiders will receive invites
- Beastcoast defeat Fnatic - invites will receive Outsiders and Evil Geniuses
The last option is the most satirical and prosaic, since the Outsiders are in 12th place with a margin of only 0.05 rating units.
The whole situation at PGL Arlington Major 2022 looks something like this:

PGL Arlington Major 2022 runs from August 4 to 14, and the total prize pool of the championship is $500,000. The teams share not only financial resources, but also rating points that will determine the participants of The International 2022.
This year The International will be held in a different format. The number of participants has been increased from 18 to 30 teams, 12 of which will compete in the Wild Card. 20 teams will advance to the group stage, which will play in two groups of 10 teams. From there, eight teams from each group will go to the playoffs. The top 4 teams will start their way in the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the 5th-8th places will start in the lower bracket. The rest of the roster will finish participation in the event ahead of schedule.
The total prize pools of The International always amount to fabulous sums and break records every year. Valve is raising money with the Dota 2 World Championship Battle Pass. 25% of the funds earned on the Battle Pass go straight to The International prize pool and are added to the original $1,600,000.
The International 2022 will be held from October 15 to 30 in Singapore, and the venues for the championship will be Suntec Singapore and Singapore Indoor Stadium.
