T1 vs G2 Esports (Oct 11, 14:00 CET)

The first match of Day 11 of the League of Legends World Championship 2024 will be between G2 Esports and T1 in the 2-1 bracket. The match will be played in a best-of-three format, starting on October 11 at 14:00 CET. The winner will advance to the playoffs.

The T1 vs G2 Esports match at the LoL World Championship 2024 is set to be the highlight of the day. It can confidently be called the main event of the LoL Worlds 2024 schedule for Day 7.

In general, every match involving T1 (except perhaps the T1 vs paiN game) is worth special attention. After all, it's not every day you get to watch the reigning world champions play, and today, it’s a match for a playoff spot. Moreover, it’s a championship clash: on one side, the 2023 world champions, and on the other, the absolute champions of Europe.

T1 in the 2024 season has been giving their fans a rollercoaster of emotions. They finished second at their home LCK Spring, then took bronze at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, and later won the first-ever Esports World Cup 2024. However, after returning home, T1 struggled in the LCK Summer 2024, finishing third in the regular season and making it to Worlds 2024 only on their last attempt after a second-place finish in the LCK Regional Finals 2024.

In the 2-1 bracket match against G2 Esports, T1 has had its difficulties during Worlds 2024: they started with a loss to Top Esports, but later defeated paiN (as expected) and overcame the LPL Summer 2024 champions, Bilibili Gaming (not as expected as with paiN), and now T1 is here. For Faker and company, reaching the playoffs of LoL Worlds 2024 is the minimum goal, and the expectations for T1 are higher than for any team in the world.

As for G2 Esports, this club has every chance to finally solidify its place among the best teams in the world. The absolute European champion has long outgrown the level of LEC teams: this year, G2 Esports won all three European splits (LEC Winter, LEC Spring, LEC Summer) and the Seasonal Finals, which only reinforces this argument.

Beyond their success on home soil, G2 has also performed quite well internationally, finishing top 4 at MSI and the same at the Esports World Cup 2024. A playoff berth at Worlds 2024 would naturally complement their list of achievements, but beating T1 is no easy task.

Last year, G2 Esports was in a similar situation, but things were even better then: after a 2-0 start in the Swiss Stage, they faced NRG in a match for a playoff spot but couldn’t handle the pressure, lost to the dark horse, and then faltered, exiting the tournament with a 2-3 record. Will they manage to surpass their 2023 result? We’ll find out soon.

Bilibili Gaming vs PSG Talon (Oct 11, 17:00 CET)

The second and final match of the League of Legends World Championship 2024 schedule will be between Bilibili Gaming and PSG Talon. The 1-2 bracket match will be played in a best-of-three format, starting on October 11 at 17:00 CET.

Overall, the PSG Talon vs BLG match will be less exciting than the G2 Esports vs T1 match due to the teams playing, and the reason lies with PSG Talon.

The PCS Summer 2024 champions and the best team in the Pacific region, PSG Talon, have very slim chances in the match against Bilibili Gaming. The issue isn’t with them but rather with Bilibili Gaming.

The LPL Summer 2024 champions, Bilibili Gaming, were and still are contenders not just for a playoff spot but for the overall LoL Worlds 2024 title. However, they now find themselves in the 1-2 bracket, with no room for error. Such things happen in the Swiss Stage, which doesn’t forgive mistakes, and Bilibili Gaming made theirs in the matches against LNG Esports and T1. Nonetheless, it’s too early to write off the Chinese champions, especially in a match as favorable as BLG vs PSG Talon.

As for PSG Talon, they seem to have already shown their maximum. The team made a comeback in the Play-In bracket and, in the Swiss Stage, defeated MAD Lions KOI and had every chance against FlyQuest, but it didn’t work out. Now, they likely face their final test in the match against Bilibili Gaming. In the end, maybe it’s in the BLG vs PSG Talon match that we’ll witness the biggest upset of Worlds 2024?
