Valorant is coming to consoles: Riot Games announced the game's release on PlayStation and Xbox
Riot Games has announced the release of the popular game Valorant on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. At a recent exclusive event organized for select players and streamers, participants were able to try the console version of the game for the first time and ask questions to the developers.
VALORANT on consoles — What we know about it?
Yes, VALORANT will be released on consoles. Riot Games confirmed that the tactical shooter will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S by the end of 2024. The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest 2024, where it was also revealed that a limited beta version for these consoles will begin on June 14, 2024.
The console version of Valorant has undergone some changes to better adapt to controller gameplay. For example, the "Phoenix flash" ability has been modified to make it harder to dodge on consoles, similar to how it is on PC. A new "Focus Mode" has been introduced, allowing for more precise aiming with a controller.
Although cross-platform play between PC and consoles will not be supported, players will be able to link their accounts and transfer purchased skins between platforms, as well as progress the battle pass on both versions of the game. To ensure fair play, the console version will use the Vanguard anti-cheat system, which will prevent the use of mouse and keyboard adapters.
The beta testing will be invite-only, and those wishing to participate can register on the official VALORANT beta website. The console version of the game has been highly anticipated, and Riot Games is working to ensure that the console gaming experience meets the high standards set by the PC version.
At the event, a special gift set from Riot Games was also presented, including a customized Xbox controller themed around the character Gecko, Valorant-branded socks, a controller holder, and other nice goodies.
Let us remind you that the major tournament VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai is currently underway, with teams competing for a prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. You can check the interim results of the tournament here.
